Boot Workshop...continues

Last week I previewed a draft for the riding boot.  Since then I have advanced toward designing other styles.  I anticipated the Combat Boot to be the greatest challenge and in some ways it peaks.  However, try throwing a zipper into a space not even three fingers can fit into...Ha!

Boot Workshop continues 

It might be "Indian Summer" around here but this is the Midwest Fall, and next week could be bone chilling...not enough to snow and stick since the ground is too warm, but it is high time before Winter sets, to start giving the Journey Girls some foot flare!

Here is a boot that I have been working out the rough draft for, and so far I think I know what to do to fix the foibles.  The color online is Teak.  The boots will pretty much come in any color that is possible to buy!

I love the color and I have a few zippers in that color family, sort of, but I decided to draft anyway and wait for my shipment to arrive that hopefully contains a color closer to the palette.  Keep your fingers crossed!

In the meantime, direct sell customers may advance order.  Online retail at eBay will be available in October!

Boot Workshop...in the Meantime

One of my favorite novelty fabric merchant's ships as slow molasses in the winter.  I cannot understand why it takes so long for the order to move, but such is life.

In the meantime, winter will be here soon and there is no point in waiting for the first snow to get my Journey Girls boots on the ground!

Expect to see at a minimum of three (3) boot styles: Combat Boot, Riding Boot, and the Wellington Boot (rain boots).  The Combat boot will likely have a tall and short style.

While reviewing my own boot collection and googling for some 'human' inspirations, I started sketching and generating a first draft.  It is not a bad start, but like drafts go, they often report to you what works and what does not.  In my case, the order of piecing together the structure of the boot, is as important as determining when and where to lay the stitching.

I do love the lacing!

Since a sock will likely be worn with the boot, I placed a sock on Hayden's (our model) foot.

I am already taking diligent notes so that I can make the necessary adjustments to move along to Draft 2.  I want to make sure that the product you see for purchase is perfected!
